Born and raised on a small farm in the southern Appalachian mountains, Dr. Timothy Jenkins has since remained in the area. He graduated from the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Honors Program and received his medical degree from ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine in 2003.
Dr. Jenkins performed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, followed by an AO Fellowship with Dr. Ian Harris at the Liverpool Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
As a sports medicine expert, Dr. Jenkins focuses on arthroscopic procedures involving the shoulder, wrist, hip, and knee, as well as joint replacement of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also treats traumatic injuries, such as wrist fractures and complex lower extremity injuries.
Dr. Jenkins works with many area high schools and collegiate athletes, and he has served as a physician for the St. Louis Cardinals, Johnson City Cardinals, Tusculum Pioneers, and Elizabethton Twins.
Dr. Jenkins enjoys boating, cycling, kayaking, and church. When he’s not treating patients, he likes to spend time with family and participate in outdoor activities with his brother, a local game warden. Dr. Jenkins and his wife, Katie, live in the Gray area with their children, Ella and Ethan.
